| John Borling (Major General USAF-ret), of Rockford Illinois, is Chairman and CEO of 100 Mission LLC, an E-Learning and Energy Solutions Company. A veteran owned business based in Barrington Illinois, the company deals with (and solves) the full range of vexing and costly business and facility problems for executive leadership in the public and private sectors.
Additionally, General Borling is a Director (Audit and Nominating Committees) of HyperFeed Technologies (HYPR), providing financial exchange services and platforms, Advisor to AusAm Biotechnology, focused on kidney and cardiovascular diagnostics and anti viral inhibitors and Stanton Chase Int., an international, executive search firm, and a principal with Performance Consulting Group (PCG), an energy services company. General Borling is the founder and CEO of SOS America (Service Over Self), at www.sosamerica.org, a patriotic organization advocating a program of universal military service for America’s youth (18-26). Previously, as President/CEO of Chicago’s United Way he was credited with a rebound of interest and campaign success exceeding 95 million dollars. In 2004, he was unsuccessful in a quest to be the Republican U.S. Senate candidate from Illinois.
A native Chicagoan and Air Force Academy graduate, his military career spanned 37 years. A highly decorated officer, including the Silver Star and Bronze Stars with V for Valor and 2 Purple Hearts, key positions included: F-15 Eagle fighter pilot and commander of the famed “Hat in the Ring” squadron. He was an Air Division commander at Minot ND and Head of Operations for Strategic Air Command (SAC)--responsible for SAC’s support of hostilities in the Gulf War and Panama and execution of the nation’s nuclear war plan. At the Pentagon, he led CHECKMATE, a highly classified war fighting think tank and was Director of Air Force Operational Requirements initiating a new family of guided weapons. In Germany, he commanded the largest fighter and support base outside the United States (70,000 Americans) and later served at NATO’s Supreme Headquarters in Belgium working directly for the Supreme Commander and Chief of Staff. He has piloted many strategic and tactical aircraft including the Eagle (F15), the F16 Viper, F4 Phantom, the SR71 Blackbird, the U-2, and the B-52 and B-1 bombers. In the Vietnam War, he was shot down by ground fire. Seriously injured and captured while trying to evade, he spent over 6½ years as a POW in Hanoi. A graduate of The National War College and executive education programs at the JFK and Business Schools at Harvard, he was also a White House Fellow and, later, treasurer and director of the governing foundation and now a regional selection panelist. His final assignment, as the Chief of Staff of NATO’s Headquarters North and as Senior US Officer in Scandinavia, saw him conceive, implement and operate an Integrated NATO and Norwegian National major command in Oslo and, later, Stavanger, Norway.
